Alleging that unidentified persons had thrown stones at their houses and broken the doors and water tanks in Bhainswal Kalan village of Gohana subdivision of Sonepat district, members of a Dalit family have sought police protection.

Following the complaint, the department has deputed a police control room (PCR) van in the village and assured the family that action would be taken against the accused.

Jagmati and Shanti alleged that around a dozen unidentified people pelted stones at their doors when they were sleeping around 12:30am on Sunday. “We woke up, but could not identify them due to darkness,” said Jagmati. She said it seemed the accused were not happy with the results of the panchayat elections and were targeting the family for not voting in favour of their candidates.

Gohana (Sadar) police station in-charge Phool Kanwar said the situation was under control and probe was on following the visit of the Gohana deputy superintendent of police to the village.
