After Vij raid, Govt doctors at it again

The government doctors at Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayana Hospital here have not mended their ways even after a raid by Haryana health minister Anil Vij on October 31.

On his first visit to the facility after taking charge, the minister had suspended one doctor and a pharmacist whom he had found absent from duty; and reprimanded others for not wearing proper uniform and keeping the hospital filthy. Many of these irregularities were still found on Tuesday when Kurukshetra chief medical officer (CMO) Dr JS Grewal made a surprise visit to the district hospital on the complaints of some patients.

Almost all doctors were in plain clothes instead of uniform, and the duty chart was blank. The CMO not only reprimanded the staff for laxity but also ordered an inquiry by medical superintendent Dr Mukesh Kumar into “identical signatures” of a doctor couple on the duty register, showing both to be at court.
The couple was reportedly found absent even at the time of the raid by the health minister on October 31, and had allegedly manipulated the entry in register to show they were attending the court hearing.

Many court-duty entries did not mention the case or the court concerned. The display board was blank for the past 22 days. Many OPD rooms were locked, and 13 of the 31 doctors were on leave of absence.
