A group of passengers and students stopped the Ferozepur-Jalandhar Diesel Multiple Unit(DMU) train at the Khojewal railway station on Tuesday, demanding the train be allowed to reach the Jalandhar station on time.

Protesters stopped the train for more than four hours as a result of which, many trains were delayed.

Protestors alleged that just to give time to other trains, railway authorities usually stopped their train at Khojewal station for 20-30 minutes due to which passengers suffered and students missed lectures.

Sukhjit Singh, a passenger, said it had become routine for passengers to reach the Jalandhar station late as the train wasted half an hour at the Khojewal station.

"A week ago, area traffic manager of railways had assured us in written that train would not get late but it's just a week and passengers still have to face the same problem due to the Hoshiarpur train," he said.

The actual time for the train to arrive at the Jalandhar station is 8.20am if it departs from Kapurthala station at 8.05am but due to delay, the train reaches Jalandhar station at 8.45am or sometimes 9am.
