The Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University (HPAU), Palampur, will be holding its 12th convocation on November 13, where in as many as 686 students will be awarded masters' and doctoral degrees.
The convocation, being held after a gap of eight years, will be presided over by governor Urmila Singh, who is also the chancellor of the university. Chief minister Virbhadra Singh will be the chief guest and will deliver the convocation address.
“As many as 686 students will be awarded masters' and doctoral degrees during the convocation and around 360 students have already confirmed their participation,” said a HPAU spokesperson, adding that certificates of honour and gold medals will also be awarded to the meritorious students on the occasion.
He told that vice-chancellor KK Katoch would present the progress report of the university highlighting major achievements in the areas of academics, research and extension education.
Besides, the parents of the recipients, members of the senate, board of management and academic council will be present in the convocation. Earlier, the university organised four under-graduate-level convocations in September this year, where 1,141 passed out graduates were awarded degrees.
HPAU scientist elected fellow of CWSS
Principal Agronomist and Directorate of Extension Education, HPAU, Suresh Kumar, has been elected as fellow of the Crop and Weed Science Society (CWSS).
He has been awarded with this honour for his outstanding contributions in the area of weed science during Biennial Conference of the Society at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwvidyalaya, West Bengal recently.
