Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that the MBBS seats at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, in Hisar district would be doubled from 50 to 100 in the days to come. Also, post-graduate courses would be introduced in 14 different streams and the process to set up a trauma centre in the institute would also be initiated.
Presiding over a meeting of the joint management committee of the college here, Vij also directed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed work plan of trauma the centre which would benefit the people of Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Jind districts and adjoining areas.
Vij said that the college, which was being jointly run by the state government and the Aggarwal Society, would have post-graduate courses in various streams to help doctors in doing specialisation.
He said that for the treatment of Hepatitis-C, appropriate special facility in the college would be given for which a team of Rohtak medical college would be sent to Agroha.
Former MP Naveen Jindal, chairman of management committee, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, said that with the support of state government, the management committee of the college would be able to provide more and better facilities.
