The city-based YUVAA theatre group is spreading awareness by organising street plays.

“Stay Right Side” is the new street play being staged by these young  artistes in areas like the city's Transport Nagar where, on an average, about a thousand truckers arrive daily from all over the country.

YUVAA director Ankur Sharma said, “The location is perfect even as these city-bred yuvaas brave the dust, mud and smoke from trucks to enlighten the truck drivers, cleaners and mechanics about the high risk probability of truck drivers falling victim to diseases like HIV/ AIDS.”

The Street Yuvaas, as they love to be called, sing songs popular among truck drivers and enact scenes from their lives to warn them about the dangers of not taking precautions while having sex or using previously used syringes, blades or needles for donating blood.

Recently, YUVAA Rang Utsav, a weekly theatre festival was also organised by the group during October and November.
