Simar has achieved the 57th rank in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Daughter to a doctor couple, Simar was preparing for this entrance test for two years and has always aspired to pursue her MBBS from the prestigious medical institute. She is inspired by both her parents. Her father Dr GP Sachdeva is a psychiatrist and mother Dr Harleen Kaur, a physician.

A student of Sacred Heart Convent School, Simar scored 97.4 % in Class 12.

“I am thankful to my teachers and parents who have always guided and encouraged me remain focussed towards my goals. I mostly prepared from NCERT books for this exam,” said Simar, a resident of Urban Estate Ludhiana, adding that she is keeping her fingers crossed about admission to AIIMS Delhi. Apart from that, she is also awaiting results of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to decide on her college of choice. The topper is also a good hand at lawn tennis, and has pursued her love for the sport alongside studies.
