Putting to rest any confusion among medical entrance examination aspirants on the changes recently made in Class 11 and 12 biology textbooks, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will take note of the corrections made by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

“We will consider the NCERT corrections in Class 11 and 12 biology textbooks for the evaluation of the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT)-2014,” CBSE chair man Vineet Joshi told HT over phone from Delhi.

The students were left wondering of the answers t hat would be considered correct in the exam after several errors were detected in textbooks. An Errata had been uploaded on the NCERT website, but had drawn flak as it had not been indexed properly.

Joshi added that the students were advised to study the corrections carefully and stick to the right answers only.

“The AIPMT is not only based on NCERT books, but other standard books too. The evaluation is based on the answer keys, confirmed from multiple sources,” he added.

Last week, following the March 13 directions of Punjab and Haryana high court asking the NCERT to rectify the biology textbook mistakes within one month, more than 60 errors in the online edition of the books, were uploaded on the website.

The petitioner Arvind Goyal claims to have uploaded the Errata in the desired format on website drarvindbiology.com. “The corrections on the site are based on the communication from the NCERT,” he claimed.
