Akal Takht jathedar urges Sikh couples to have four children

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has called upon Sikh couples to have four children. In his message delivered at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib on the conclusion of annual historic Hola Mohalla festival on Monday.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has called upon Sikh couples to have four children. In his message delivered at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib on the conclusion of annual historic Hola Mohalla festival on Monday.


Giani Gurbachan Singh said it was a matter of serious concern that the population of Sikhs is decreasing, which was adversely affecting the progress of Sikh community.

He added time had come to shelve the slogan of 'Hum Do Hamare Do' and adopt the slogan of 'Hum Do Hamre Chaar' in the larger interest of Sikhs.

He also urged the Sikhs to solemnise the marriage early in the morning (Amrit Vele).

Meanwhile, in his message Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Mal Singh urged the Sikhs to shun the social evils like dowry, female foeticide and wasteful expenditure on marriages. He also urged the Sikhs to plant trees for ensuring clean environment.

Later Hola Mohalla celebrations concluded with Nagar Kirtan procession. The Nihangs displayed martial arts in the Nagar Kirtan.
