Akali leader’s SUV snatched on gunpoint

Back to back incidents of car snatchings have exposed the police working in the city. Even as police is yet to trace the Innova car of a BJP leader snatched on gunpoint by armed accused few days back; three armed suspects again made a strike to speed away with SUV Pajero Sports from the posh Ranjit Avenue area on Gun point this morning.

This time this SUV worth Rs. 25 Lakhs belonged to Akali leader Surinder Singh, who is chairman of the Market Committee in Chogawan. The incident took place at about 11: 30 AM.

As per Manjeet Singh, driver of the SUV, “He was sitting in the car on the navigator seat when the car was parked in Ranjit Avenue area and suddenly a youngster pushed him out on gun point. His two accomplices also moved inside the car and sped away in no time.”

Interestingly, the accused who had come on a Motorcycle left it at the place of incident. Reacting to the incident, Police parties in big number rushed to the spot and started probe. Police claimed that efforts were being made to nab the suspects.
