Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Monday announced to make a film on drug menace in Punjab, claiming the issue had acquired dangerous proportions.
Accompanied by co-stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra, Kumar said this while promoting his upcoming film Brothers in Lovely Professional University, near here.
“The Punjab youth is falling prey to drugs. Keeping this in mind, I am working on a film which will be based on drug menace in the state. Very soon I will come out with the blueprint of this movie,” said Akshay while interacting with mediapersons.
Akshay along with the other two mesmerised the crowd by performing on songs from his movie and also talked about how youngsters must take avid interest in sports to lead a healthy lifestyle, and also urged young girls to take up martial arts for self-defence.
The Punjab-born actor interacted with the students in Punjabi. Talking about the movie, the Padma Shri awardee and two-time Filmfare Award winner said the movie is a pure drama and is about emotional bonding in relationships.
Charming Sri Lankan beauty Jaqueline Fernandez expressed her gratitude to the people of Punjab for receiving them with so much love and affection. Talking about the movie, she said, working with Akshay and Sidharth was a pleasure because both are very supportive.
When asked about her days as a television journalist earlier, she said it was for a short period of time, but if she had not ventured into acting, she would have definitely continued as a journalist.
‘Ek Villain’ actor and the new Bollywood hearththrob Sidharth said he had to take intensive training to play the role of a wrestler.
On working in a Punjabi movie in the future, Akki said he was working on an idea which would probably be based on the drug menace in Punjab.
