Alert driver saves lives as bus brakes fail near Pathankot

An alert Punjab Roadways bus driver saved many lives in Pathankot after its brakes failed on Wednesday.

He managed to stop the vehicle after slowing it down and later hitting it on road dividers. Nearly 10 passengers were injured in the incident.

Driver of the bus, Satnam Singh, who also sustained injuries, said he was going to Pathankot from Chandigarh and had dropped many passengers at Chakki River Bridge while around 12 passengers were still to be dropped at the Pathankot bus stand.

He said near Dhira village, which is just few kilometers away from Pathankot, when he tried to slow down the bus, he realised that the brakes had failed.
