Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Young Indians Ludhiana chapter observed World Cancer Day in association with Herminder Memorial Cancer Centre, Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital, Banur, at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.
The day is marked to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer by 2020.
More than 350 students from BCM Arya Model School, Ludhiana, attended the session. For this session, Dr Urvashi Mehta and Dr Natasha Chopra from Herminder Memorial Cancer Centre educated students about the pandemic disease.
Dr Urvashi Mehta explained different kinds of cancer diseases, their symptoms, corrective measures and remedies available. She advised youngsters to say no to alcohol or smoking and comply with healthy lifestyle.
She also said that it was a general myth in society that cancer was incurable; while its curable if found on early stages.
