The charm of Punjabi cinema has slowly, but surely smitten our Bollywood actors. Joining the sea of stars taking the route to Punjab is the barely two-film old stunner Zareen Khan. All for new exposure and experience, Zareen, who debuted with Salman Khan in Veer, is more than just excited to be a part of her Pollywood debut — Jatt James Bond. Directed by Rohit Jugraj, the movie stars singer-turned actor Gippy Grewal, and is slated for an April 25 release worldwide.

When we ask her why Pollywood, pat comes her reply. “Ever since I signed Jatt James Bond, I have been asked the same question. Other than the script and my character which melted my heart, the urge to learn new things pushed me to sign the movie. For the same reason, I have also signed a Telugu film, the shooting for which will commence soon”.

Sharing the details of the film, Zareen says the story is set in the backdrop of a village and is packed with romance and action. She adds, “I play the role of a school teacher — a very sorted character who is straightforward and talkative.”

We ask the actress if she faced any hurdles delivering dialogues in Punjabi.

She says, “I attained a great learning experience, but delivering dialogues was a bit arduous for me. However, Gippy and the entire crew played a very supportive role. No one got impatient if I took time to deliver any dialogue authentically”.

Remembering her fond memories on the sets, the actress chips, “As most of the film is shot in the villages of Punjab, I ensured to put my best foot forward to explore the village culture. I moved around with my team and interacted with the villagers in Punjabi.

I loved their simplicity and hospitality. Above all, I regularly visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar where I felt so blessed”.

Just as we were about to ask the damsel about Salman Khan, who is known to give her and many other new comers a ticket to Bollywood, a broad smile comes on her face. “All that I am today, is because of Salman,” she is quick to add.

As we share Salman’s inspiring tale of tracing his teacher after 31 years while shooting for Bodyguard in Patiala, she says, “I am surprised and inspired to know this. Rarely do children remember their teachers. I must say, Salman has a memory like an elephant. Above all, this also highlights the greatness of his personality.”

“I adore him for being grounded despite being such a big star. I consider myself lucky that I worked with him, and will always be thankful to him for having changed my life,” the actress concludes.
