Kin of a patient admitted in Arora Neuro Centre, Mall Road, on Friday protested against the doctors accusing them of negligence in treatment.

Manoj, brother of patient Vinod Kumar, 35, said his brother had suffered a paralysis attack and was admitted in the hospital on March 6.

A resident of Chauni Mohalla, Kumar is a Class-4 employee in the municipal corporation (MC).

Manoj said despite being admitted in the hospital for more than a month, his brother was not showing much improvement.

"The hospital is treating only the brain, while the heart's treatment remains neglected. Now, when we requested the hospital to discharge my brother, they are asking for `2.8 lakh on the spot," Manoj added, stating that they had requested the hospital to provide them discharge bill so that they could produce that in the MC to get reimbursement, but they denied and also stopped medication of the patient.

Thereafter, the patient's family members staged a dharna outside the Arora Neuro Centre and demanded that the patient be discharged for better treatment.

Dr Prashant Arora of Arora Neuro Centre, said, "The patient's kin misinterpreted the situation and went aggressive, as the patient is recovering well."

He said after the protest, the patient's relatives realized that they were wrong and apologized to us, adding that they had discharged the patient without taking any money.

The relatives have now taken the patient to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
