Workers of the Vita Drug Pharmaceutical Company, under the banner of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, took out a procession and staged a dharna outside factory's main gate for more than two hours at Nandpur village in Baddi on Monday.

The workers were demanding deduction of provident fund, ESI medical facilities, issuance of identity cards and other facilities in accordance with the labour laws.

They alleged that company management was openly violating the government's order, which is providing 70% jobs to Himahcali youth, by imposing unilateral decision.

Mazdoor Sabha's president Mela Ram Chandel, Raju Bhardwaj and others said that inspite of repeated pleas, the company management was adopting indifferent approach towards demands of the workers.

The leaders said they would intensify the agitation if the company did not accept their demands within a week.

The workers also submitted a memorandum to labour officer urging him to intervene in the matter as most of the workers were Himachali domiciles.
