Amritsar: Cold claims fourth life in four consecutive days

The arctic condition prevailing in Amritsar claimed its fourth victim on Monday.

The body of the unidentified person was found at Sultanwind road area.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satnam Singh of the Sultanwind police station said the victim had, apparently, succumbed to the cold and efforts were being made to identify him.

With this, the number of deaths due to the prevailing cold wave has come to four in the past four consecutive days.

In the meantime, the Holy City on Tuesday woke up to a chilly morning. Although the day was sunny, the chill in the air made the residents shiver.

The weatherman has predicted fog at the night and on Thursday morning for the city, while mainly clear sky from January 7-12.

The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 11degrees Celsius, eight notches below normal, while the minimum remained 6.8 degrees, four notches below normal.
