Amritsar DC gets honesty award, to give prize money to Red Cross

Deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat has been given the Farid Award for Honesty-2015 by the Tilla Baba Farid Religious and Charitable Society and Gurdwara Godri Sahib Baba Faridkot Society.

After receiving the award, the DC said: “I believe that honesty is just not a virtue but a way of life, and above that if one is recognised and awarded for the same, it’s indeed a big motivational factor which gives a deep sense of satisfaction.”

The award is a token of appreciation to Bhagat for carrying out public services with sterling loyalty and immaculate integrity. The award was given on September 23 during the presentation ceremony at the diwan hall of Gurdwara Godri Sahib, Faridkot. The award carries a citation, a siropa (robe of honour) and Rs 1 lakh cash. As per the communiqué of society, the award has been conferred on the DC for being the most honest person of Punjab this year.

“I have already written to the society that `1 lakh award money announced should be given to the Red Cross Society in Faridkot. I am happy that my work has been recognised. It encourages me to work with more zeal.” The DC said.

Bhagat was also awarded by the Election Commission of India with best district election officer (DEO) in 2014.
