Amritsar girl raped by three youths on way home from school

A 17-year-old girl was raped by three youths while coming back from school at Verka town in Amritsar.

The girl is a class-10 student of a private school. The incident happened on October 8. On the compliant of girl’s mother, the Amritsar city police have booked three persons under Indian Penal; Code sections 376/120-B (rape and criminal conspiracy) and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act-2012.

The accused, identified as Manjit Singh, Kamaljeet Singh and Kuldip Singh, all residents of Guru Nagar, Verka, are at large.

The medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape. According to the complaint, the girl was returning from school on October 8 when the accused forcibly took her to a house where they allegedly raped her.

“The next day when my daughter returned home, she narrated the entire incident to us following which we approached police, said the complainant.

Sub-inspector Rajwinder Kaur, who is investigating the matter, said: “Raids are being conducted at different places to arrest the accused.”

A few days ago, a schoolgirl from Chhtoa Haripura here was forcibly taken to a hotel in an autorickshaw by two youths from her locality while she was returning home from school. One of the accused had allegedly raped her inside the hotel.
