A 16-year-old boy, allegedly angry with the illicit relations of his mother, hacked her to death and then set her body on fire inside their house here in the wee hours of Friday.

The minor boy did not run away from the spot of crime after killing his mother Karamjit Kaur, but called up the police to get himself arrested from his residence in 88 Feet locality at Majitha road.

ACP (north) Balkar Singh said, "As soon we received the information, SHO Sadar police station Harish Behal, along with police party, reached the spot of crime and took the accused into custody".

The boy, who confessed the crime, said, "My father Noor Masih had died about three years ago in a rail accident. My mother Karamjit Kaur had illicit relations with someone. I was very upset over this and even suspected that my father was got killed by my mother".

He further said, "There have been frequent fights between me and my mother over her relationship and she had started living separately from me and my two brothers. She lived in a rented house in the 88 Feet road locality. Getting frustrated about her relationship with someone, I planned to murder my mother".

The boy, who works in a salon, said, "I had planned to kill my mother a couple of days ago but could not succeed. On Thursday night, I bought a sharp-edged weapon and petrol worth `50 from a filling station. I waited near a park in the locality throughout the night before barging into the house. At about 4.30 am, I entered the room of my mother. She woke up after seeing me there. There was a minor scuffle between us and then I attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. After she was dead, I poured petrol on her body and set it on fire".

Showing no repentance over his act, the boy said; "I preferred not to run away after committing crime. I am not sorry about whatever I have done. I wanted to give a strong message to all those mothers who cheat on their family and kids".

ACP Balkar Singh said the accused claimed that he had also lodged a complaint with the police earlier, alleging that his father was murdered. "We will look into the allegation and will definitely probe the matter," he added.

The boy also told the police that they are three brothers. While confessing the crime, the accused stressed, "I specifically called up the police so that the cops must not suspect my other two brothers or somebody else". He said, "I have done what I felt the best. Justice will be done to me."

The police sent the woman's body for post-mortem. The body had sustained 80% burns.

Meanwhile, the police said they would check the identity proofs of the accused to ascertain his exact age.
