Questioning the working of the cyber cell of the Amritsar City Police, local Shiromani Akali Dal chief Upkar Singh Sandhu has demanded a probe into the working of the cell in the Police Commissionerate.

Sandhu said it was cops of the cyber cell who gave the first wrong tip-off that gangster Jaggu was roaming in the Verka area. This wrong information led to the killing of innocent SAD leader Akali leader Mukhjit Singh Mukha.

"A detailed probe in needed into the role of those posted at the Cyber cell of Amritsar City Police and the truth needs to come out," said Sandhu.

Notably, after the Amritsar (rural) Police managed to arrest gangster Jaggu after an encounter on Sunday evening, the Akali Dal had questioned the working of Amritsar City Police.

"If the Amritsar (rural) can arrest Jaggu after a fierce encounter why couldn't the City Police detain Mukha," Sandhu added. The SAD Chief had also threatened that they will stage a protest as the SIT formed to investigate the Akali leader encounter case was yet to submit a report.

On June 16, in a major embarrassment to the Amritsar City Police, its officials shot dead the Akali leader Mukha mistaking him for gangster Jaggu.
