A school girl was molested, robbed of her bag containing a certificate and cash and was  threatened with an acid attack near the busy bus stand in the holy city on Thursday, following which police registered a case against one Ranjit Singh under Sections 382, 354-A (I) and 506 of the IPC.

However, no arrest had been made at the time of filing of this report.

In her police complaint, the girl said that as she was returning home from her school in the afternoon, the accused riding a motorcycle accosted her and offered her a mobile phone. As she refused to accept it, the accused tore her shirt, forcibly thrust the mobile phone in her hand and molested her.

"As the girl climbed into an auto-rickshaw, he returned and ran away with her school bag containing her certificate, Rs. 1,000 as well as the cell phone he had given her. The accused also threatened to throw acid on her face," said ASI Amarjit Kumar, incharge of the bus stand police post.

Police commissioner Ram Singh said that police had received a complaint and were investigating the matter. Raids were on to arrest the accused, who was likely to be nabbed soon, he added.
