15-kg heroin seized; one held

The Tarn Taran police claimed to have seized 16-kg heroin in two separate cases and arrested three persons. The contraband is valued at Rs. 80 crore in the international market.

Addressing mediapersons, Tarn Taran SSP KS Dhillon said that  incharge of the CIA wing inspector Rachpal Singh on Wednesday got information that a person named Gurmeet Singh was into drug business and had contacts across the border.

Working on the tip-off, the CIA inspector laid a naka near on a bridge near Bhouse village. During checking, suspect Gurmeet Singh was stopped and 15 packets of heroin of 1-kg each were seized from his possession, the SSP claimed.

The SSP said more recoveries are also expected after questioning of the suspects.
