17-year-old boy drowned in temple 'sarovar'

A 17-year-old boy, Sucha Masih, of Khunda village drowned in the 'sarovar' of Chhota Ram Tirath temple at Khan Malik village under Dhariwal police station on Tuesday.


The victim and his friends were having a dip in the 'sarovar', when Sucha entered the deeper side and drowned around 1 pm. His friends raised an alarm and some of the devotees present on the premises dived into the sarovar to save him, but failed to locate him.

Someone informed the police and Dhariwal SHO Harpal Singh rushed the spot and pressed into service some divers to fish out the body. The SHO said the victim belonged to a poor Christian family. The divers were still to locate the body till the filing of the report in the evening.
