5-year-old girl abducted from Golden Temple

A year after three-and- a-half-year-old Gurmilap Singh, who had come to the Golden Temple with his family, was kidnapped and later released, a five-year-old girl identified as Anmoljot Kaur of Gounspura village, Batala, was abducted from the Manjhi Hall of the Golden Temple, where she had been putting up with her parents for the past eight months.

The city police have booked Prem Singh of Patti, in this regard in a case registered on the complaint of Gurmej Singh, a resident of Gounspura village, and the father of the girl. However, the police are yet to arrest the accused.

In the complaint lodged with the police, Gurmej has alleged that he had been living in Manjhi hall of the Golden Temple with his ill wife, son Manpreet Singh, 7, and daughter Anmoljot for the past eight months. He alleged that for the last 10 days, the accused had been sharing the accommodation besides having his meals with them. He said that on July 17 evening, the accused abducted his daughter when he and his family went to partake of langar. Sub-inspector Bhagwan Singh, in-charge, Galliara police post, investigating the case, said no arrests had been made so far.
