Bollywood actor, Akshaye Khanna held road shows across 40 villages of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday, campaigning for his father Vinod Khanna who is the BJP candidate.

Appealing to a huge crowd of fans that gathered to catch a glimpse of the star, he said ‘My father’s biggest asset is his honesty and simplicity. He will only promise what he knows he can do and deliver.’

Addressing villagers, who walked up to Akshaye to shake hands with him and share their woes, he said ‘ My father has always believed and made us believe too that he has a 5th child and that is Gurdaspur.’

Akshaye has campaigned for his father during the earlier parliamentary elections also and has built a connect with the people here.

People lovingly call him ‘Akshaye Bhaji’. They offer him water, food and invite him home to share a meal with them.

Akshaye thanks them and apprises them of his busy schedule ahead of him. He assures to see them again, post-elections. Akshaye has a strong connect with not just the youth and women, but also the elderly voters in the area.

Vinod Khanna’s wife Kavita Khanna also joined Akshaye in the road show.

As the road show moves from village to village, Akshaye senses a palpable support for his father.

Stressing the need for a government with majority, Akshaye maintains that an able leader who works for the overall development of the country is crucial. He said that it is very important to have a single party majority in parliament for smooth functioning of the government.

Referring to the ‘Modi wave’, he said he was not a political pundit, but as a layman he can feel the groundswell support for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. ‘Vote for Modi ji, vote for Vinod Khanna ji, and you will never be disappointed”, he adds.
