The chief minister, who was in Bhoa assembly segment to attend a sangat darshan, slammed the Congress leader while interacting with mediapersons. "For becoming the chief minister and the state Congress president, he ignored the sentiments of the Sikhs who were killed in the Operation Bluestar. For this, he used the Congress as a ladder," Badal said.

"I was jailed for raising the voice against the union government for Operation Bluestar. I did it for Punjab, Punjabis and Punjabiet," he added. He said Amarinder and PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa were on the same page when it came to befooling people by issuing misleading statements. But as their party faced defeat in the last two elections, people will not accept them in future as well, he continued.

Badal termed BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as the best choice for the country as against the Congress' possible candidate Rahul Gandhi. He termed Modi as a seasoned and mature leader having an extraordinary vision. "Modi ji deserves to be the PM. The country will choose him. Rahul might be more powerful than the PM and AICC president but he is no match for Modi," the CM said.

On the possibility of formation of third front in the country, Badal said Indian people knew with whom their future was safe. "I can write on the wall that Modi will be the next prime minister of the country," he said.

While distributing grants to sarpanches and panches, Badal expressed displeasure over little attention paid to school infrastructure in the border villages. "You should also demand funds for schools and educational institutes rather than talking about constructing streets and drains every time," Badal told the village heads. "I am deeply moved to learn about the little attention being paid to the education system and would now instruct my team to take school infrastructure on priority basis," he said.

Later, the CM gave away funds to the 138 panchayats. He was accompanied by former Gurdaspur MP Vinod Khanna, BJP leader Swaran Salaria, state BJP president Kamal Sharma, deputy speaker Dinesh Singh Babbu, Bhoa MLA Seema Kumari and Sucha Singh Langah.
