Senior Congress leader Kanwal Bakshi accused Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa of working against the party interests in the recently-held Lok Sabha elections in the state, here on Saturday.

He said that right from the day Bajwa was appointed as Punjab Congress chief, the prospects of the party went from bad to worse.

Bakshi alleged that Bajwa got such an undesirable list of PPCC office bearers released through the party high command, undermining the merit and loyalty of dedicated workers. He inducted his relatives and friends in the PCC even against the wishes of senior Congress leaders and many sitting MLAs, said Bakshi.

Bakshi stated that Bajwa’s initial reluctance to contest from the Gurdaspur seat demoralized the rank and file of the party. He said that Bajwa trailed the BJP’s Vinod Khanna in all the nine Assembly constituencies.
