Condemning the serial blasts at Bodh Gaya in Bihar, BJP national vice-president Laxmi Kant Chawla on Monday said that the poor internal security situation in the country had once again been exposed since intelligence agencies had forewarned about such incident.

"The Bihar government had also failed to take steps to prevent these blasts despite warnings from central intelligence agencies and the Delhi police following disclosures made by an arrested terrorist," she said in a statement released here.

The former BJP minister said that terrorists had targeted a place regarded as a symbol of peace and non-violence throughout the world. "People are losing faith in the UPA government due to its failure to check the movement of terrorists who can trigger such violence," she added.

"The Bihar government should act against officials who failed to take note of the warnings and did not take adequate measures to check blasts from occurring. It is the duty of every government to protect its citizens but sadly internal security in India seems to have taken a back seat," Chawla claimed.
