Boy kidnapped in Tarn Taran

A 12-year-old boy, Mohit Dhawan, a student of Class 6 at Adarsh Public School, Baler, was kidnapped on Thursday by Mandeep Singh, a former driver of the family.

The accused is a resident of Wegepur village and was now employed as a driver of the vehicle that picked and dropped students to the school.

The Bhikhiwind police have registered a a case under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code.

Pardeep Dhawan, father of the boy, said that they were yet to receive a ransom call and the fact that Mandeep was also missing pointed to his possible involvement in the crime.

Bhikhiwind police station SHO said that the accused was absconding. "A team has been formed to crack the case."
