Deputy commissioner Abhinav Trikha has said that the 755-metre Rs. 65 crore concrete bridge across the Beas river at Dhanoa Ferry (Pattan) in the district will be completed by March next year.

The DC made the statement after an on-the-spot assessment of the construction work of the bridge.

"On its completion, the bridge will benefit the residents of bet area and the people of Hoshiarpur district, in addition to Gurdaspur. Now, residents of Dhanoa Ferry (Pattan) and bet areas first go to Mukerian covering about 20 km extra to enter Hoshiarpur district. After the bridge is complete, these people will be able to enter Hoshiarpur district directly and shortly, just opposite the Dhanoa Ferry."

The DC added that the roads to link the bridge on both sides were also nearing completion. The bridge and the roads were being built by a noted construction company of the country under the supervision of the Public Works Department, he added.
