According to information available, Pakistani smugglers fired at BSF jawans in the wee hours. They were being given cover fire from behind.

After the encounter, a search operation was launched and the BSF recovered one pistol, one magazine, six cartridges, a Pakistani mobile and SIM card.

While some BSF sources claimed that this could be a bid to sneak into India, other sources said the covering fire may have been given to Pakistani nationals to push in some major consignment.
