Busts of seven martyrs unveiled

The Indian Army under the aegis of Rising Star Corps on Wednesday honoured its jawans and officers who had made the supreme sacrifice for the country. A function was organised at Tank Chowk here, where busts of seven martyrs were unveiled at the martyrs gallery.

The busts are of Capt GS Salaria, PVC (P), 3/1 GR; Maj Gen AS Pathania, MVC, MC, OBE, 1/5 GR; Lt Col Kaman Singh, MVC, M-in-D, 3 Garh Rifles; Nk Chain Singh, MVC, (P) 9 PUNJAB; Capt AS Jasrotia AC (P), SM, 9 PARA (SF); Lt Triveni Singh AC (P), 5 JAK LI and  Lt Navdeep Singh AC (P), 15 Maratha LI.

The gallery was inaugurated by Uma Devi, wife of late Maj Gen AS Pathania; Dayawanti Singh, wife of late Lt Col Kaman Singh and Jeeto Devi, wife of late Nk Chain Singh in the presence of Lt Gen Sanjeev Chachra, GOC-in-C Western Command.

Govt to instal 286 deep tubewells in Kandi area

In order to provide the farmers of the Kandi area with standard irrigational facilities, the Punjab government is installing 286 deep tubewells at a cost of `30 crore. This was stated by Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation chairman Ravikaran Singh Kahlon while talking to mediapersons at his residence at Dadu Jodh village on Thursday.
