Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency Sucha Singh Chhotepur filed his nomination papers in the office of the district electoral officer and deputy commissioner Abhinav Trikha here on Monday.

Chhotepur travelled in a three-wheeler from his home in Chhotepur village near Dhariwal to the district electoral officer's office in Gurdaspur. His supporters from various parts of the parliamentary constituency also came in 41 three-wheelers to join his cavalcade to Gurdaspur.

Later addressing media persons outside the DC office here, Chhotepur said that he would highlight corruption, unemployment, economic backwardness, adulteration and drug abuse prevalent in Gurdaspur constituency and ask the people to vote for him to get these problems solved effectively.

He said that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal would visit Gurdaspur to canvass for him on April 11.
Chhotepur had a dig at the candidates of BJP and Congress, saying Vinod Khanna (BJP), who remained three- time Gurdaspur MP from 1998 to 2009, built only one bridge while Gurdaspur sitting MP Partap Singh Bajwa (Cong) failed to bring any development work during the last five years.

He hoped that he would get support from all the sections of the society, especially the youth.

The AAP nominee said that the people are dismayed over the dismal performance of the Congress and the SAD-BJP alliance and sought people's mandate for AAP to "set things right".
