Assuring support to the families of men stuck in strife-torn Iraq, CM Parkash Singh Badal said the state government was constantly in touch with the Union government to ensure their “safe and prompt” release.

Interacting with a delegation of the families on the sidelines of the SAD’s Rakhar Punia conference here on Sunday, the CM expressed satisfaction over efforts made by the Centre and exhorted the distressed families to have faith in the government.

On the request of the delegation regarding financial assistance to them, the CM directed the Amritsar deputy commissioner to immediately release the pending assistance. Badal had announced `20,000 per month to the distressed families of 40 Punjabis who are stuck in Mosul.
