Colourful shows, festivity marks Children's Day

Children's Day was celebrated with much fervor and enthusiasm in various schools of the city on Thursday. Students gave colourful performances, including skits and folk dances, in their respective schools to mark the day.

Harkrishan Public School, Golden Avenue
The students of Harkrishan Public School, Golden Avenue, celebrated Children's Day by inviting children from different charitable organisations at their school. The children were entertained with games and recreation activities.

Khalsa College Public School, GT Road
A colourful cultural function was organised at Khalsa College Public School (KCPS). The students presented bhangra, folk dances, poem recitation, skits on the theme and philosophy of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
School principal Dr Sarvjit Kaur Brar briefed the students on Nehru's life and encouraged them to imbibe his principles. The students took a pledge to realise Nehru's dreams. Brar said a group of students from the primary wing was taken for a picnic wherein they visited Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama in the city.

Hyatt Hotel
As many as 15 children from the Central Khalsa Orphanage were invited for an event by the management of Hyatt Hotel. To make the day special, the hotel staff had organised various colourful activities such as games, quiz etc. A drawing contest enthralled the students. The children were also served a special lunch at the hotel. Later, they were taken for a 5D movie at a multiplex.

School principal Sawinder Chahal accompanied the children and thanked the hotel management for making their day special.

DAV Public School, Lawrence Road
On the occasion of Children's Day, a morning assembly was conducted by teachers at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. A graceful presentation of 'Kathak' was presented by a teacher. The teachers also sang songs and recited inspiring poems for the students. Later, speeches were delivered to inspire the students to follow the right path in life.
 
Mother's Pride, Amritsar
A puppet show was organised for the students of Mother's Pride, Amritsar. They were also given surprise gifts by the management. The colourful function kept the students glued to the puppets. The students were all smiles to receive the gifts.

Students apprised on their legal rights
AMRITSAR: The students of Government Senior Secondary School were apprised on children's rights by the Legal Service Authority during an awareness campaign on the occasion of Children's Day on Thursday. A variety entertainment programme was also presented by the children to mark the day.

Talent Hunt Programme on Creative Skills

A three - day talent hunt special programme on creative skills 'Kala-e-Noor' was concluded here today at the Guru Nanak Dev University. This programme was organized by the Department of Life Long Learning of the University. As many as 100 students participated in fine arts and culinary skill competition during this event.
