Frustrated by power cuts in the border belt, farmers protested on Friday outside the office of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) chief engineer here.
The Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, an agricultural trade union, led the demonstration. The farmers accused the government of not supplying adequate electricity to the villages and said they were even willing to pay a rupee per unit for the supply. Raising slogans against the state and the central governments, they demand that fines that the PSPCL had imposed on farmers and farm labourers be revoked.
