Senior Punjab Congress leader Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa on Sunday claimed that his party would register victory due to large voter turnout in the zila parishad and block samiti election held during the day.

In a press release issued here, Bajwa said that the local elections had set the tone for the Lok Sabha poll in 2014, adding that the Congress would sweep the general election because the people were fed up with the anti-people policies of SAD-BJP government.

He said that people had extended full support to the Congress in Qadian and Sri Hargobindpur constituencies.

He asserted that Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa and the whole party appratus would stand behind party workers who faced vendetta by the state government.

Bajwa held SAD president Sukhbir Badal responsible for the murders of Congress workers in the state, adding that the SAD-BJP alliance wanted to grab power by hoodwinking the voters.
