Folk rules on 4th day of youth festival

Regional music was the flavour during the folk orchestra event on the fourth day of the ongoing 28th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival Guldasta, 2012, at Guru Nanak Dev University on Saturday.


Folk instruments, attire and music of participating states of north India were on full display at the orchestra competition. Group song (Indian), light vocal, rangoli and installation art were the other events held on Saturday.

Sikandar Singh Maluka, minister for higher education and languages of Punjab, will be the chief guest at the concluding function on November 11 and give away certificates and trophies to the winners. Vice-chancellor AS Brar will preside over the event.

Students await math teachers, lecturers

Manvir, who arrived 15 minutes ahead of the morning assembly at his Bandala village school, is among the 150 pupils of class 10 without a math teacher for the board exams. All four master-cadre posts for the subject are vacant in this senior secondary school that has also lost its science batch of Plus Two in the absence of lecturers.
