Addressing a gathering of the members of the Gurdaspur District Bar Association (GDBA), Garg said that working from the proposed chambers would not only be convenient for the advocates but also offer them better working conditions.

Giving detail of the project, GDBA president Anil Chander Nanda said that initially 200 chambers -- 100 chambers each on the ground floor and the first floor of the proposed two-storey building -- would be built at a cost of Rs. 4 crore, including 50% matching grant from the government.

He said the project had the provision of raising additional 100 chambers later on the second floor of the building. He said the construction of the building would begin in the coming few days and it would be completed by August.

He thanked the members of the High Court Building Committee and the GDBA Building Committee for their cooperation in getting the project cleared. The local judges and the judicial officers were also present on the occasion.
