Four booked for attacking couple with sharp-edged weapons

Tension prevailed at the Railway Road on Monday night after four youths attacked a couple with sharp-edged weapons.


The incident happened at 9pm on Monday, when Shankey Walia, accompanied by his wife Mandeep Kaur, was parking his car in the garage and while doing so, his vehicle brushed with another vehicle, leading to a verbal duel between Shankey and four occupants of the other vehicle. Within no time, the four youths attacked Shankey with sharp-edged weapons lying in their car. As Shankey's wife tried to save him, but the miscreants roughed up her as well.

Area residents gathered at the spot after hearing Shankey and his wife's cries for help and the accused fled from the spot.

Both Shankey and Mandeep were rushed to the civil hospital from where the doctors referred Shankey to Amritsar, seeing his serious condition.

Later, a deputation of residents of Railway Road met Batala SSP SS Mand and demanded strict action against the accused.

On the complaint of Mandeep Kaur, the police have registered a case under sections 323, 324, 325, 34 of the IPC against Kanwarpal Singh, Sukhraj Singh, Sunny and Sarabjeet Singh, who were absconding.
