GNDU prof delivers lecture in Muscat

Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, dean, faculty of sports medicine, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), delivered the keynote lecture in the Oman International Sports Medicine Congress, which was held recently in Al Bustan Palace, Muscat. The congress was attended by eminent scholars from the Middle East and other countries.

Prof Sandhu stressed on the latest updates in stem cell therapy for treatment of various sports injuries. He also spoke on the latest techniques to manage soft tissue injuries, especially tendinopathies.

Sandhu, as the secretary general of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine, discussed the developments in the speciality of sports medicine in Asia with the objective of starting sports medicine academic programmes in this part of the world based on the programmes introduced in the faculty of sports medicine of GNDU, which has been adjudged as a centre of excellence by the University Grants Commission.

Sandhu also visited the various sports medicine facilities in the Sultanate of Oman and extended his full cooperation in optimising them.

Govt to instal 286 deep tubewells in Kandi area

In order to provide the farmers of the Kandi area with standard irrigational facilities, the Punjab government is installing 286 deep tubewells at a cost of `30 crore. This was stated by Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation chairman Ravikaran Singh Kahlon while talking to mediapersons at his residence at Dadu Jodh village on Thursday.
