Heat wave claims 3 lives in Amritsar

The scorching heat claimed three lives in the city during the past 48 hours, with the maximum temperature touching 47°C.


The three casualties were reported from Gate Hakima and Chheharta areas of the city. All three are unidentified mendicants aged around 50 years.

The police are probing the deaths under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The meteorological department has predicted no respite from the intense heat in the next 48 hours. The department said the heat wave was likely to get severe.
