The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat Arun Jaitley on Friday visited the residence of sitting MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was denied the party ticket from the constituency this time.

Since Sidhu is out of the country, Jaitley held a meeting with Sidhu's wife and chief parliamentary secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu.

The CPS represents the Amritsar (east) assembly segment.

Sources said during the meeting, Sidhu's confidants and many councillors were also present. All were assigned various duties to ensure Jaitley's victory.

Dr Sidhu assured Jaitley of whole-hearted support, stating that the party workers would go all out to ensure his victory.

Later, during a press conference, Jaitley said, "Sidhu will be joining him for canvassing soon."

Jaitley's visit to Sidhu's house assumes importance in view of denial of the party ticket to Sidhu that left his supporters and confidants red-faced.

Unplanned divider ruins charm of McLeod Road

Morning walkers in the holy city have lost what was, perhaps, their last remaining favourite road.
An unplanned concrete divider has killed the beauty of Mcleod Road running along the Government College for Girls (GCG). The strolls over there used to be smooth, as the road used to be wide and traffic-free. The median has brought in potholes, logjams, and encroachment.
