A minor victim of rape has termed it political vendetta of her father's opponents and charged the police with trying to force the family to accept compromise.
The rape was confirmed on the girl's medical examination that was forced by the complications because of the assault. Accused Harwinder Singh "Raja" is under arrest, yet there is pressure on the family to withdraw the complaint.
The minor victim and her father also approached National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes vice-chairman Raj Kumar Verka on Monday and told him about the police intimidation and threats to register a false case against the victim's father like before.
Police allegedly have rounded up the victim's minor brother, 12. Condemning the incident, Verka has asked the district administration to compensate the girl and register a case under the Atrocities Act as well.
The girl's father told him about the differences with the accused over party matters. He told them that on the night intervening June 3 and 4, the girl was assaulted in the courtyard of her house, where the family was asleep. His opponents had allegedly barged into the house, gagged the girl, and dragged her into one of the rooms to commit the crime.
They had also allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she spoke up about it. "Strict action should be taken against the culprits," said Verka.
