All India Congress Committee member and Patiala (rural) MLA Brahm Mohindra visited Pathankot on Tuesday to interact with party rank and file and appealed them to unite ahead of the Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held in 2014.

Speaking to prominent local residents and at the house of former minister Raman Bhalla, the visiting Congress leader urged them to rise up against the SAD-BJP government's moves to "loot" people under the pretext of levy of taxes.

Mohindra alleged that SAD leaders were minting money from every possible source, ranging from cable TV to mining of lesser minerals to liquor.

The Congress MLA said that prices of sand and gravel had skyrocketed which had made construction of houses a nightmare for an ordinary person.

People were feeling cheated after returning the SAD-BJP combine to power again in the state and they would not give the coalition another chance in the general election, he claimed.

Former minister Raman Bhalla said that Mohindra had assured that the voice of women Congress workers would be conveyed to party leadership in Delhi.
