As kids, we often wrote essays on what we would do if we became political leaders. Taking a cue, HT asks celebrities to list out their plans, imagining themselves in the shoes of an MP.

Who is your favourite politician, and why?
Narendra Modi seems promising due to the development of infrastructure and industries in Gujarat. Maybe, he can do that for the entire nation.

Which politician is the best-dressed?
Navjot Singh Sidhu. Zabardast personality hai, kapde khilde ne ohna de (He has a great personality. His clothes are bright and blooming). I must also mention his positive aura and down-to-earth nature. He is one MP who is original and honest in what he says and does.

What would your work timings be as an MP?
I am a desh bhagat (patriot) and I love my country as I know it is the best to live in. I would sacrifice my days and nights for the people of the country. Real leaders do not prioritise sleep, rather they prioritise the nation and its people.

Would you want security?
An MP should be loved and respected by the people as family. I will give so much love and respect to my people that security won’t be needed.

What would be your USP?
I am a very satisfied and thankful person. Everyday I thank God. I would keep this trait alive as an MP. And, to make the nation like heaven, a good leader has to just think about people. Self-centredness must be shunned.

Which Bollywood actor would you rope in to campaign for you?
Instead of any celebrity, I would rope in my niece Pearl Majithia. She is just 16 and I have not someone so patriotic.

What will you wear as an MP?
I will be as original as I am. My on-screen characters wear loud costumes and make-up, but in real life I am simple and subtle. As an MP, I would wear kurta and jeans or a simple salwar suit with simple footwear and light make-up. My simplicity and originality would help me connect with the people.

Which car would you like?
White Ambassador with a red beacon.

What will be your pitch to connect with the youth?
Youth is the backbone and the future of the nation. It is very important to understand and solve their problems. Elders should stop being unnecessarily rigid with them. Rather, they should give them freedom and love to bond with them.

How would you inspire the youth to go out and vote?
Love, respect and understand their feelings, and they would be inspired to vote.

What will be your slogan?
Bole so nihal.

What would be your symbol?
Kirpan, as it stands against injustice and evil.

Issues you would like to raise?
The need of the hour is to give ruthless punishment to rapists. Why cover faces of criminals in public? Their families should be disgraced as they are the ones who did not give right upbringing to them. I will ensure steps are taken for gender equality. Also, I’ll strive to make the judicial system effective. People should not have to wait all their lives for justice.
