Pak national attacked in jail by fellow-countryman

The city police have registered a case against a Pakistani national after he attacked another Pakistani inmate at Amritsar central jail.


The injured has been identified as Mohammad Irshad, who hails from Faisalabad, Pakistan. The case was registered after a complaint was submitted by the Amritsar jail superintendent.

Police said both the attacker and the injured have completed their terms and were waiting to go back to their native land.

Police added the incident took place on November 1. Irshad, who was injured was rushed Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. But later he was sent to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. After receiving treatment, the Pak national is back in Amritsar.

A case under Section 307, 323 of the IPC and Section 42 the Prisoners Act have been registered against the accused.
