Demanding that both India and Pakistan must have visa centres in Amritsar and Lahore, respectively, an 18-member delegation of lawyers from Pakistan entered India on an invitation from their Indian counterparts.

The delegation reached India on Friday morning through the Attari border road route. They will be reaching Chandigarh to participate in the 50th year celebrations of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.

Talking to reporters at the border, advocate Rana Asif said, "It is a good gesture that we have been invited here. Such exchange of delegations must continue as it would strengthen relations. We are here with a message of peace and we want that for improving the people-to-people contact, India must have a visa centre at Amritsar and Pakistan must have it at Lahore."

Stressing that both countries must look forward to strengthening relations, advocate Ghulam Abbas said, "Both the countries have almost the same culture, especially in Punjab there is no difference. Apart from talking on legal matters during the visit, we will also talk about increasing these mutual visits."

The delegation will also visit Panchkula and Shimla during the visit.

Amritsar Bar Association chief Pardeep Saini, along with others, was at the border to receive the Pakistani delegation.
