In the case of two unidentified men running away after snatching an SLR and 10 cartridges from a Punjab Police cop from the busy Hall Gate, the Amritsar police continues to be clueless.

Though the police had issued a sketch of a suspect and also conducted raids at various locations, it has not been successful.

Sources claimed that apart from Amritsar police, the adjoining districts of Tarn Taran and Amritsar (rural) have also been put on alert and officials are having joint meetings.
Talking to HT, deputy commissioner of police Kaustabh Sharma said, “Efforts are on and we are looking for vital clues. Till now no arrests have been made.”

The DCP said, “Definitely, we are taking help from the Amritsar (rural) and Tarn Taran police since this was an important case.”

Two unidentified men had snatched a self-loading rifle (SLR) and 10 cartridges from constable Simranjit Singh posted at a naka outside Hall Gate on Tuesday night.

Though there were three cops guarding the naka, since head constables Gurdeep and Tarsem left the place for some reasons, the accused spotted the constable alone and snatched the weapon.
The city police, it is learnt, extensively questioned the cop from whom the weapon was snatched.
